Quote of the day: Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
- Leo Buscaglia
I was reading a Jodi Picoult book called Change Of Heart, and it got me thinking. 24 hours later i'm still thinking about it. Thats how I know certain things have touched me, if I'm still thinking about them days later, like when Denny died in Grey's Anatomy.
It's about a guy who kills a 7 year old girl and her stepfather, leaving the pregnant mother alone. He is then sentenced to be executed. 11 years later, he is still waiting to be executed, and the sister of the dead girl needs a heart transplant. The killer then decides that he wants to give the girl his heart. There are a million questions that come out of this book. Like, what do you think of the death penalty? And if you were the mother of the victim, would you take the heart of her killer to sae yur other daughter?
I don't believe in the death penalty, I believe in forgiveness instead. However, I would take his heart. Then again, if it means he wouldn't be executed, I'd die. I know this because I have a heart condition and I know how the girl needing a heart transplant feels.
I got this from Kitte. Thanks Kitte.

Quote of the day: Note how good you feel after you have encouraged someone else. No other argument is necessary to suggest that one should never miss the oppertunity to give encouragment.
- George Matthew Adams
Yesterday I saw the film Australia for the second time. It was fantastic, just as good the second time. and for the second time, i cried almost all the way through it. That's a first. I never cry in a movie more than once. But I think I know why. Becuase the kids on mission island were "rejected" in a way, and they didn't have safe homes to go to. I cried because I tears me apart seeing children like that - that's why I'm so passionate about becoming a social worker and forstering and adopting kids of my own.
Did you guys who are overseas (not in Australia) like the film Australia? It'd be interesting to hear a review from swomewhere else.

It was great to see everyone and I didn't realise until last night how much Lauren and I are alike. And we went clubbing afterwards. It was the first time I have done that. I have been clubbing a mere twice in my 22 years, but I have never gone out clubbing after a party. It was great but another friend and I wanted to go home earlier than the others so we were picked up by my dad, so I just pray that everyone got home safely.
Love,
Jodie

My mum got her new car today. It's a hatchback and it's fire-engine red. Don't ask me anything else because I don't know what kinda car it is, let alone anything else about cars. She's really excited but when she came home with it, she said "I got my new car," and I just said "So?" I came out to look and show some interest.

Jodie
